The Philippine Left going after @lenirobredo and the @LiberalPH s , only for the COMELEC to deregister Bayan Muna as a party-list group due to "failure to meet participation or electoral performance requirements" is sweet, sweet schadenfreude. It basically means these guys are constant losers that don't deserve to even be on the ballot due to lack of popular support. I used to privately fear that the Philippine Far-Left was making uncomfortably large gains among Filipino Zoomers but they've gone done exactly what they did in 1986 - go after the very popular female leader of the Liberals, call for cancelling the grand center-left coalition over petty ideological squabbles and generally be insufferably annoying to anyone right of Mao. Now millions of young Leni Robredo supporters understand our utter contempt for the Far-Left. A very welcome development. Amazing self-sabotage by the lunatics on the fringe as always.

The Catholic Church has always taught us that faith should not overshadow our common sense (reasoning), and reason should not overshadow faith. The Pope has to undergo surgery to remove a lump in his throat. You see? He didn't just pray and pray and sit down doing nothing about it. Of course, God can miraculously heal someone. But God also works through the ordinary means available to us, including doctors, medicine, and medical procedures. When you pray for healing, you also go to the hospital. You get yourself checked, you take your medication. When you pray for a job, you go out and apply for jobs. When you pray for a good harvest, you plant the seeds and ask God to bless your efforts. You don't just pray and go to sleep, expecting everything to happen magically. Remember, faith without works is dead (James 2:26). Faith is not an excuse for laziness or the abandonment of reason. When you pray for something, you must also be willing to do your part. Pray as if everything depends on God because it does, and act with the understanding that you have a responsibility to fulfil. That is faith and reason working together.
