If you are a young analysts please fade this view. So many people seem to be referring to a class of SM funds that made a successful factor bet that unwound in 2022. There remains demand for strategies that aren’t long QQQ short IWM charging 2/20 with aggressive gates.

Hills I will die on: 1) For most single manager talent, pods aren’t legit competition because the game is totally different 2) That the economics of leaving a good job to start your own fund are so unappealing sends a strong signal that makes it easier to raise money

This is why Brett has my favorite account on twitter, Great brutally honest assessment about what HF life was like for him, with advice. While this doesn’t resonate with me personally (this job makes my family life better), I think it’s true for the vast majority of people.
