Music plays a central role in the celebrations & ceremonies this weekend. All those musicians were encouraged and inspired by music teachers, and we will watch proudly as our current and former pupils serve the nation through their art. 1/2

@Steven_Berryman @tes Not doubting the proposals that music makes you better at maths, a better team player, a better learner etc, but most importantly music lessons make you a better musician. That's enough by itself. Music needs no other justification than music. That's why it's on the curriculum.

Not a gimmick. Super-selective state sixth forms are doing a good job competing with super-selective independent schools re Oxbridge entry. There is no silver bullet to 'level up' and independent schools aren't all 'hot houses' bit.ly/3p2qZxc
