It seems trite to say, “I could have been Jacob Blake,” but my own life has been continually flashing before my eyes from the moment I saw those 7 shots escape that officer’s gun in Kenosha. Each time, the visual hits viscerally closer to home ... and to Seward County, Nebraska.

this was super effective during occupy. “where are the leaders? this is incoherent? what’s the plan?” the translation was “we’re not going to change anything so choose the least radical people from your side to be leaders and let them present something which we can ignore.”

“what’s the plan” in the context of protests is sometimes a fair question. often however it’s a delaying tactic that means “enter into a negotiating framework which the power structure find amenable and controllable.”

Today’s strikes are bc of the players. Some teams are putting out nice statements of support. Others are putting out less nice ones. I’m sure the league found their Serious Issues Letterhead. But will they actually support when the players don’t force their hands? History says no
