#Rafael is now forecast to become a major (Category 3+) #hurricane. If it does, it would be 5th major hurricane of the 2024 Atlantic season. 7 seasons in satellite era (1966-onwards) have had 5+ major hurricanes by 6 Nov: 1995, 1996, 2004, 2005, 2010, 2017, 2020.

Subtropical Storm #Patty has formed in the eastern Atlantic - the 16th named storm of the 2024 Atlantic #hurricane season and the 9th named storm since September 24. 2024 is tied with 1950 for the most Atlantic named storm formations between 9/24-11/2 on record.
