Istria by UTMB 42k done in 4:37, a bit slower than hoped for but considering the lack of training I’d of liked to of banked. I can’t complain. Was going well for the first 16 miles then the wheels fell off but not totally. On to the next one 👍

Tonight’s run took me over my yearly mileage target of 3000 miles (with a massive 2 days to spare) That’s 8.2 miles every day. Happy with that and being fortunate enough to avoid any long term injuries 👍

A run of 2 halves in Gran Canaria today. Up a ravine including some ropes to climb up out of a gorge, then to a run along the coast path to finish.

Week 10 of London Marathon training completed with my first ever 20 mile road race, at the Trimpell 20 race in Lancaster. Ran it at marathon pace and despite slowing towards the end, averaged 6:29 pace (sub 2:50). So a decent workout. Another 4 weeks left before the taper!

Week 7 London Marathon training finished with a 75 mile week and a 21 mile long run yesterday. Cut back week next week (due to being busy) A nice 8 mile trail run around Grasmere today to finish the week off. #LondonMarathon

Week 6 of 16 weeks of London Marathon training completed with my first race of the year. A 36:35 10k road race. Decent but not quite perfect. But stepping up to a 75 mile week next week as training continues.

Week 5 of London Marathon training done with a 67 mile week, slowly, slowly increasing mileage, although a cut back week next week, with a 10k road race to see where the fitness is at. #LondonMarathon

London Marathon training week 4 finished. No long runs this weeks just getting the consistency of daily runs in, and mileage slowly increasing, with a 66 mile week. #LondonMarathon

London Marathon training week 3 finished. 65 miles for the week (Plus 60 on the bike). Long run this week was a 15 mile Lakeland 50 recce trail run last night, which was fun. Followed today with a recovery run up Gummers How. #LondonMarathon

London Marathon training week 2 completed, with a 17 mile run around Coniston Water and 57 miles in total. Not bad when I had 2 rest days midweek. 60 miles next week is the plan.

London Marathon training week 1 complete with almost 57 miles and today’s longer run of nearly 15 miles. Easiest week of the block done and will increase from here on in.

First day of London Marathon 2023 training today, and obviously all good marathon training plans have a run up Helvellyn in the snow to start the build up?? Maybe I’ll start the proper training tomorrow 😂

Not my best year of mileage, but still another fantastic year of running whilst visiting some amazing places and looking forward to more of the same in 2023. Happy New Year!
