@RCRadiologists Right. You need to put out a clear statement completely opposing PAs in IR, Rad, & Onco. You need to further draw a red line in PAs requesting. You need to ensure ensure radiographers aren't turned into "reporting radiographers" without high quality standards.

This means that PAs no longer can go on middle grade rotas, cannot run independent clinics, definitely cannot do surgery or endoscopy ( no FY1s do either), cannot lead any services or management positions and should not be on a higher than Band 6 AfC grade. Very clear now. 👇

A newly qualified PA scores 314 weighting points, which means band 4. A PA with extensive time in specialty, proposing service improvements and training PA students, might eventually make it to band 6. Safe scope and direct supervision make this not a band 7 AfC role. 17/

Thank you to @NHSEngland FOI team for this information on the total number of unique applicants for CT1/ST1 training this year. 26,036 doctors applied for 9,331 posts - overall competition ratio 2.79:1. There is no shortage of doctors. We just don't want to train them.
