NO TOUCH BAR???!! 😍 I've been looking to get an M1 laptop for myself (keep stealing Jamie's 😂), and legit, the one Touch Bar on the Air vs the Pro is worth the light drop in both battery and screen nits no contest.

I’m going to say it louder for the folks in the back: Micro-services solve a team scaling problem, not a tech problem. Container orchestration solves a micro-services deployment problem. Most of y’all have neither. Use a PaaS.

That’s the root critique of microservices. The price for decomposing a majestic monolith into a bunch of independently packaged, maintained, and operated services can not be assessed by looking at the individual parts. Is the whole system better is the key question.

Meetings are toxic. Doesn't matter if your work day is being chopped up into work moments in the office or virtually. Thinking that working remotely = meeting remotely is a grave misconception. Remote work thrives on deep work, which requires long stretches of uninterrupted time.

When I’m writing an assertion, I ask myself, "For how much of the life of the system should this be true?" 2 + 2 = 4? Forever. This object sends this message to that object? Just for now. I assert long-term truths and not "just for now"s.

Refactor a function f: A -> B, with high confidence, without needing careful incremental steps: 1. Write a new stub function: f': A -> B 2. Write a property test: ∀a ∈ A → f a = f' a 3. Go crazy with f' until they match 4. Delete f and forget it ever existed

Let me reframe. If you *don't* start by instrumenting your app from day one, how the fuck do you know it works as intended? If you say "my tests pass" I'd like you to stop and think about what you just said.
