So, the AB government offered to pay $150/week to parents of kids 12 and under (during teacher strike). Online stats state there are around 436,000 kids in AB 12 and under. $150 x 436,000= $65.4 million per WEEK. Seems like a lot to pay to try and break the ATA and further…

First of all, there are about 350,000 students eligible (it applies to students between 6 - 12). Assuming most students are enrolled that's slightly more than $10m/day. Adding 1% to teacher salaries would have cost $51m FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR.

There are at least 300K children in gr. K-6 in Alberta (based on 288,883 in 2020) UCP is going to pay $30/day for each of them for childcare during the teacher’s strike. $9 million a day. 90 top of the grid teacher salaries a DAY. The cost of a brand new school per WEEK. #abed

In the last two days--I've read or heard government say three different numbers of new students added to the education system in the last 2 years--50,000, 80,000 and 100,000. So which is it? Maybe government should start collecting class size data again (they stopped in 2019).

Utter contempt and disrespect from Bruce McAllister. Cutting off the kid's mic and limiting his freedom of expression is one thing, but saying he should be spanked is a fireable offense from a supposedly neutral moderator. Bruce needs to be removed immediately.
