@ryangrim Just saw piece on Americans renouncing citizenship & it could have gone deeper into the issue, rather than just “rich people avoiding taxes”. If so, we would see Bezos and Zuckerberg doing the same, but they are not b/c other countries would tax them more! Rather… /1

U.S. citizens living outside the U.S. bear uniquely onerous tax responsibilities. Today I sent a letter to Chairman Neal in support of short form IRS certification to simplify tax filings for the estimated nine million U.S. citizens who live and work abroad.

Ending the double taxation of Americans who work abroad is the next obvious reform in the personal income tax. We ended this practice for businesses in the 2017 reform/reduction. Now let’s stop abusing individuals—only the USA and Eritrea treats its overseas citizens this badly
