This was the patch of elevated convection forming in far northeast OK as I flew in this evening. A lot of models are forecasting 3-6” of rain as these clouds blow into training echoes.
My expectations for a good view were greatly exceeded yesterday at #Kincardine when a cold upper trough was able to overcome cold water temps to allow this storms to cross the lake and a shelf cloud to achieve near perfection.

I was wondering what it would look like if I combined my eclipse pic with the #NASA /ESA SOHO LASCO C2 picture of the sun during totality. Probably needs some work but the streamers line up well.
Severe storms around Kuai, how about this signature? There will be no debris there unless sufficient numbers of fish get entrained into the vortex.

Well it’s forecasting by satellite as it’s show day. As expected the high cloud pattern is not what the models forecasted. We will try to position ourselves north of the low clouds in AR and close to the upstream edge of the cirrus edge moving E

What a day in SW Oklahoma today! We saw multiple mothership-like supercells and I made a timelapse of an anticyclonic meso. Huge thanks to @CameronJNixon for predicting these storms (you rock!) and awesome chase with @Krzysiek_p26 and @HarryWeinman 🌪⛈️

There sure is a lot of arguing going on during and after these tornado events amongst meteorologists and also chasers. I recommend just staying focused on our role and not as much on these arguments. I am focused on the storm chase tomorrow and highlighting recovery efforts.…

Extreme low-level streamwise vorticity is present across central and eastern Oklahoma as tornadic activity has recently ramped up. Code to generate these maps will be available on my github in the near future
Incredible observation from a wunderground station near Holdenville. Measured a pressure drop of 4.4 mb near the center of a tornado, which is impressive for a coarse temporal resolution of 5 minutes

MULTI-VORTEX MONSTER crosses road directly in front of me near Harlan, Iowa earlier. Those sub-vortices are miniature whirls of concentrated tornado fury that whip around a common center. They cause strips of extreme destruction. A historic day in Iowa. Trakced in @MyRadarWX:
Can we not speculate about tornado ratings while the outbreak is in progress, and people are still just trying to get their bearings after such a devastating event? 🤷🏽♂️
NWS Omaha's warning product generation this afternoon was nothing short of heroic. As of 7:45 PM 164 SVS (followup to TOR,SVR warnings) 102 LSR (Local Storm Reports) 42 Tornado Warnings 25 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings Those SVS and LSR counts take extreme levels of effort.
