A lot of online cinephiles really ultimately want hays code era innuendo or vague homoeroticism.
But is now the time to hold back with that sort of thing. He’s kind of reinforcing the idea that the implied is inherently better. As I’ve said, for all the people who seem to champion more eroticism, sleaze, and general sexuality being back in cinema—they don’t actually want it.
It is also kinda funny that he’s maybe the least subtle filmmaker alive and only holds back from going all the way with this sorta thing
