Day 13. „Widespread and inaccurate beliefs about low back pain in the population and among health professionals should be challenged, and a focus put on reducing the impact of low back pain on people’s lives rather than seeking medical treatment for a “cure”
Day 12. “Time limitations dictate that evidence based practitioners also rely heavily on conclusions from preappraised resources.” Interestingly, it seems like many health professionals are not interested in evidence-based methods and reviewing the original literature.
Day 11. I wish more healthcare professionals would look into improving their communication skills, as research shows that better communication skills often lead to better outcomes for patients.
Day 10. Really interesting study that at first glance shows significant improvement in HILT group but lacks sham group, has questionable blinding and small sample size. It’s also only a 6 week intervention period and there’s lack of follow up Ax.
Day 9. A vs. A + B’ studies debate in interventions for atraumatic MSK pain remains unresolved. However, there is now compelling evidence showing that most studies, if any, demonstrate only immediate or short-term effects for MT as an add-on with questionable clinical relevance.
Communication skills arent 'soft skills' - they are critical skills for clinicians and patients... Thats one of the reasons we set up @EvoolvePainCare to support clinicians to develop these skills.

Day 8.„Recent highlights in low back pain research, Part I: Diagnosis and Prognosis” Five themes that emerged are worth noting, but I absolutely love communication strategies tips provided on page 28 (see screenshot).
Day 7. “Patients with shoulder pain who completed the pain neuroscience program achieved significantly better results in terms of their AROM, disability, catastrophizing, kinesiophobia, and therapeutic alliance compared to those achieved by the control group.”
Not all ACL ruptures need surgery. This paper is a good overview of what to take into account when making clinical decisions best treatment for the patient. „A new way of grading severity of ACL rupture on acute MRI to consider potential for non-surgical healing with the CBP”
Day 5 ‚Activities requiring lifting, twisting and bending are beneficial for maintaining a healthy back. Avoiding such movements can lead to increased pain, stiffness and physical deconditioning’ Please tell your older family members to never stop moving ❤️
‘It is not all about strength: rethinking mechanistic assumptions in exercise-based rehabilitation for musculoskeletal pain relief’ editorial by @JaredPowell12 questions the notion that strength gains really mediate pain in MSK conditions. It looks like it’s more complicated!
Day 3. As someone living with chronic pain for the past 10 years and really familiar with Explain Pain pain education I find this paper really interesting. It’s fascinating to see what themes patients really value in pain education.
Day 2. Why it’s so important to really think of the words we choose as clinicians. „Recovery expectations can be heavily influenced by single, at times off-hand, statements. This finding is important given that low recovery expectations are a strong predictor of poor outcome”
It’s 2026 and I decided to read at least one paper a day in January in preparation for my Honours program starting in March! Here’s my little tracking table 📖
