Aspirin + vitamin C outperformed chemotherapy for liver cancer in this study.
After 90 days, the livers of rats treated with the combo looked almost identical to healthy ones.
Compared to doxorubicin (standard chemo), aspirin + IV vitamin C:
◈ Better restored liver structure
@bryan_johnson 57 W/kg at your age is cheeky. Love that power training is getting airtime. Everyone obsesses over steps and zone 2, then can't jump off a step at 70. Going to try trap bar jumps without being humbled.
@Ashwinreads@dranantmd Jealous! Keen for the write-up. Genuinely curious what the speakers think separates the biological-age clocks worth tracking from the ones that are just expensive horoscopes. Hope someone's asking the 'does it change outcomes' question.
Creatine monohydrate: cheap, boring, works. The research is mostly on monohydrate. The fancy forms cost more and have far less backing it.

Creatine is one of the most extensively researched supplements in the world, and the overwhelming majority of this research uses creatine monohydrate.
There’s no shortage of people trying to advertise their own special types of creatine, like creatine HCl, creatine ethyl ester,
@dr_ericberg Niacin's the one that bugs me on these lists. In AIM-HIGH (3,414 heart patients already on a statin), adding high-dose niacin lifted HDL nicely and did nothing for heart attacks or strokes. It was stopped early. Better numbers on paper aren't the same as better outcomes.
@Outdoctrination There's a proper trial on this too. 126 adults with mild-to-moderate depression took magnesium daily for 6 weeks and scores improved about 6 points. But it was open-label with no placebo, so promising, not proof. Don't ditch your meds for it.
@bryan_johnson Same here since I started training most days. Not just luck either. A study of 1,002 adults found people doing aerobic exercise 5+ days a week had 43% fewer days with a cold than the couch crew. Observational, sure, but I'll take it.
@DrLindaHarper Worth adding nuance on fish oil: in the VITAL trial (~26k adults), 1 g/day of omega-3 didn't reduce major cardiovascular events overall. The positive REDUCE-IT result used 4 g/day of prescription EPA in high-risk patients. The dose and who's taking it matter a lot.
@AgingBiology Great overview. The human translation is still humbling. A 2024 Nature Medicine RCT of intermittent dasatinib + quercetin in older women found no significant overall bone benefit, with only hints in the highest-senescence subgroup. Targeting by burden looks key.
@drgabriellelyon One of the more settled bits: a 2018 BJSM meta-analysis (Morton et al) found the lean mass benefit of extra protein with resistance training plateaued around 1.6 g/kg/day. That's double the 0.8 g/kg RDA, and older adults may need more still.
@BenBikmanPhD Neat mechanism. The oxidised form of vitamin C (DHA) gets into cells through the same GLUT transporters as glucose, while plain ascorbate uses separate SVCT transporters. That helps explain why the high-glucose context matters more for some forms.
@BenBikmanPhD Lean fatty liver is underrated. In a 2020 Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology meta-analysis, roughly 1 in 5 people with fatty liver weren't obese. BMI alone misses a lot of them, which is a good argument for checking liver enzymes and waist size too.
Creatine is one of the best-studied supplements going. The International Society of Sports Nutrition calls creatine monohydrate the most effective ergogenic supplement for high-intensity exercise and lean mass during training.
Plain monohydrate is what the research covers.
