Many people do not understand how a relationship with an abusive person can have a lot of positive in it. Abusers can be very bright, give wonderful gifts, appear to share emotionally & to be remorseful. This creates cognitive dissonance in the victim. #DomesticAbuse

So many people support victims in theory, but not in practice. They’ll talk a big game about solidarity with survivors, but when survivors face smear campaigns and DARVO, they’re nowhere to be found. They only feel comfortable supporting “perfect” victims — but those don’t exist.
