On government shutdown (if it happens), my opinion is that it will be an extended shutdown. Once DJT shuts down all non essential (presidents sole discretion) conservatives will rally to not open the non essential parts ever. As time goes on, compromise will get even harder

Every western finance minister and treasury secretary is on phone (my conjecture) as they can all see the looming global yield breakout. What they will not do, is do the right thing which is cutting size of govt. Of course eventually it will happen, but by a different crew.

This rate cut has a great chance backfiring in form of higher long term rates. No rational analysis can argue with all them high markets, still elevated inflation, we should cut rates. Euro area rate cuts have led to higher bond rates in Euroland and economies are still in a funk
