After Sanchar Saathi, the govt should consider launching another app called Sambhog Saathi. Every registered user would have a unique Sambhog ID. Before any sexual activity, both partners would simply open the app, enter each other’s IDs, and submit. The partner would receive an accept/decline notification, and once accepted, the app would record it as confirmed consent, admissible in courts. Such a system could protect individuals from false rape allegations and also prevent misuse if marital-rape criminalisation ever becomes law.

💔 British Missionaries tortured Nagas to convert. Then In 1964, Nehru barred Hindu sadhus from entering Nagaland “to protect culture” but freely allowed Christian missionaries. Result today: Nagaland is 88% Christian, Hindus just 8.7%. x.com/Nagaland_India…

Interesting observation from an eng manager: “As soon as I know some text is AI-generated: I lose all interest in reading it. For performance reviews, I asked people to either not use AI or if they must: just write down the prompt so I don’t need to go thru the word salad.”

Many people are hating on this video, but I actually think it's a fascinating display of the two very distinct modes that exist to relate with reality: mimesis vs. first principles thinking. 95% of people operate by mimesis. Truth doesn't matter to them as much as getting along; and their epistemology (how they decide whether something is true) is based on what people around them believe (which is obviously circular, since most of *these* people also operate that way). The remaining 5% — people with Asperger's really — think from first principles about things. This leads them to hold opinions that are sometimes very outside the Overton window, to be extremely disagreeable — basically to be that guy in the meme standing before a mob going "yes, you are all wrong." And the reason they can do this isn't courage as much as social ineptitude — it's not that they're strong enough to fight against the grain, it's that they *don't feel* the grain. They're rude by omission, not commission. Now, my running theory is that this balance — 95% mimesis, 5% first principles, at the expense of social cohesion — is probably finely tuned by nature. Asperger's is almost entirely genetic, and you'd assume that it puts its hosts at such a reproductive disadvantage that it should be rooted out in no time. And yet it persists, and I actually think it's been with us since time immemorial: the hunter gatherer's aspie was probably the shaman — a weird dude whose brand of wisdom earned him a certain respect, but also kept him forever on the fringe of the tribe. I think that balance exists because if we were all aspies, society mostly wouldn't be able to work together (even Peter Thiel fired Elon!). And if we were all normies, civilization would devolve into a mimetic black hole — you can get a feel for what that looks like by looking at university campuses.

Software Developer salaries have crazy variations around the world. One thing is crystal clear, though: - Regardless of where you live, working remotely for a US company will increase your salary.

Some takeaways after my conversation with a hospice nurse of 12 years based on her experience: 1) Many people will not pass away unless they feel ready and this can sometimes mean getting their hair washed, being shaved, or having a bowel movement.

@kushanmitra Very true, was so surprised to find a Indian restaurant in outskirts of A small white town in Pennsylvania. When i asked the owner why he opened here he pointed to the trucks standing outside.

@iMukeshB2 @outofofficedaku Good practice. Usually Passport is considered as the only valid id proof in foreign land. Have seen people getting into trouble as they left passport behind in hotel room and then get into any situation with say police or security and are unable to establish their id with any doc

Ever wondered why "sin" (of trigonometry) is called "sin"? Today, I decided to find out, and the history is fascinating. It comes from the Sanskrit word for bowstring which somehow got translated to the Latin word for the "pallu" of a toga. Follow me down this rabbit hole 🧵

In Sakal newspaper #Pune today is the news about Nanarao Peshwa of 1857 having lived in Bhutan and helped the Penlaw of Trongsa against the British. There is some merit in the story as I ascertained during my visit to #Bhutan. The picture is at the entrance to the Pesha raja room ~ a two room apartment ~ in the dzong at Trongsa.
