Teaching reading requires some knowledge about the alphabetic code, some patience & humor, and a little common sense. No one can, in a tweet, sketch out how to teach rocket science. But I can, in a tweet, sketch how to teach reading. 3/4

It's useful to know which sound/spellings are important enough to teach and which can be learned on an as needed basis. These percentages 👇come from Hanna et al. (1996) research in which the sound/spelling appeared in the 17,000 most frequently used single & multisyllabic words.
