So, I got the approval to go fully remote. Wife and I will be working towards breaking our lease and getting out to the country asap. I will never live in a city again.
My guess? IRS hand keyed in as 1040-ES and not 1040-V. Same result. No harm. BUT just for this case.

Hell yes you can file. It is unlikely Congress is going to fix this issue before the 10/15 deadline. Also, if they do, you can afford to pay me to amend. So---whatever. /🧵
I extended a few clients just in case Congress decides to fix the marriage penalty in the SALT cap between now and 10/15. It's unlikely, but it's easier to file timely and claim a refund of tax paid than to amend. Plus, having me file a 1040-X costs, waiting is free... 🧵

Is anybody else mentally screaming into the void? I’m feeling broken. I’ve spent two hours staring at this phone. I can’t bring myself to answer emails. I’m tired of feeling like I have to force myself to do one thing in the hope that I’ll then do a second thing.

@JoshYoungblood I have a crazy story to share one day, I am still not ready to share. Some white collar gangsters used my info during the pandemic and it threw my life for a whirlwind. No security could have protected me unfortunately because as tax pros our info is public.

@JWellsTax In all seriousness, this happens at my home airport of BHM too. Never makes sense to me especially with smaller airports.
My civ pro teacher, a former RBG clerk, once told me that the most obvious sign of an incompetent lawyer is underestimating a lawyer’s abilities based on where they are located, work, or size of their firm. You never know why or how someone ended up in the situation you find them
There are arguments on both sides for ghost-written briefs in opposition, but, like, does anyone think the Justices are fooled into thinking that a New York consumer fraud attorney in a two-person law firm wrote this?
