Today I read a comment from a mom saying she doesn’t let her daughter wear light up shoes in case she’s in lockdown for an active shooter at school and that’s how someone finds her. Just let that sink in for a minute.

Quick social experiment. Everyone gets a grade for how well they’ve complied with pandemic guidelines and followed safe protocols; grade correlates to cash (i.e. A = $5000, B = $1,000, C = $50, D & under = $0). If you’re getting defensive already, might be time to examine why.

I keep hearing “I’m so ready for this election to be over.” I get it. The fatigue is real. But let’s recognize that many people don’t have the privilege of being relieved once this ends. They can’t just “get on with life.” This uncertainty and anxiety is their permanent reality.

My bitter, hardened, 2020-ravaged heart was warmed last night by the generosity and creativity of my neighbors, who worked so hard to make Halloween a safe and fun event for kids. If we can all continue to step up and take care of each other like this, we’re going to be OK. ❤️
