#2025_Antarctic_stratospheric_warming is not comparable to the 2019 stratospheric warming event, given the much weaker tropospheric wave forcing. Its impact will be against those of La Niña and -ve IOD. This kind of minor warming is not so rare, having happened ~6 times before.
Could the zigzag look of some SH polar vortex section reveal a complex of vertical wave reflections, increasingly trapped between more stable layer boundaries?
The southern hemisphere polar vortex is very unstable this year, not very warm or weak, but full of wave activity.

Tropospheric planetary wave 3 in about a week's time
The GEFS extended begins to look like the polar vortex in the southern hemisphere exhibits wave activity again in early October, potentially closing the seasonal ozone hole, yielding early final warming influence on the SAM
Temperatures in the southern polar stratosphere pulse warm again in early October.
Winds in week 2 trended back up into usual range
Near term pulse of geopotential height anomaly is modeled at 2431m, inside 5 days. More pulses of strat warming to come after this.
