For every impairment that a clinician identifies and links to pain, someone else has that impairment and yet no pain. Instead of asking about why someone is at risk of pain, shouldn't we ask why some aren't at the same risk? Move from risk factors to protective factors.

I continue to be shocked and disappointed to hear stories of patients being told by clinicians to avoid doing the things in life that give them meaning....due to pain. The result is greater distress and disability with no pain benefits. Why do we continue to do this?

We really need to stop demonizing running. Even the phrase, “just don’t run marathons” implies there’s something negative about it. We’re actively making the population less healthy with these false narratives!

I wonder how much of our inability to stick to exercise programs is due to: Running too fast Lifting too heavy Chasing quick results Focusing on outcomes versus the process. It’s a superpower to be able to start where you are, and embrace the journey to where you want to be.
