.@PeterAttiaMD recommends an 80/20 ratio for cardio 80% of your volume should be spent in zone 2 20% of your volume should be spent training VO2 max Think of it like a pyramid — zone 2 is the base, VO2 max is the peak, and the total area of the pyramid is your cardiorespiratory engine. And contrary to what many people think, traditional HIIT isn't the best way to train VO2 max. The intervals are too short and the intensity is too high. Instead, aim for 3-8 minute intervals (with a 1-to-1 rest-to-recovery ratio), somewhere around 85-95% max heart rate.
