Random thought for the afternoon. Instead of fretting about how a tornado was or was not ranked and arguing about it instead put forth that energy into helping people whose lives were turned upside down by this tornado outbreak. That would be much more productive.
UPDATE: after consultation with an engineering expert, we will be upgrading the Marietta tornado to a low-end EF4 tornado. Details coming in a PNS shortly. NO changes as of right now to the Sulphur rating. Still investigating. #okwx
Updated SPC outlook expands the 5% tornado threat for tomorrow. The window for discrete cells will be short with large hail and then damaging winds the primary threats. Tornadoes are possible early then along the line in western Iowa as the LLJ increases.
I made a mistake this morning. I looked at the CFS for my chasecation dates. Won’t do that again.
Creston was very lucky on Friday one of these tornadoes didn’t plow through town. Saw 2 of the 3 tornadoes. The tornado pic was from the last one.

Starting the editing of my photos and video from the past few days. First the Brainard, NE tornado as it condensed after being multi vortex for a time. At this point is was moving west as the parent storm moved off to the northeast. Video from this storm coming soon.

I'm back home in Iowa working through photos and video and maybe a haircut. Storms are possible this afternoon but the severe threat should be limited. The past 2 days have worked the atmosphere over very well. #iawx
The @NWSSPC nailed the forecast for this outbreak. Hats off to them and the hard work they put in each and every day.
The severe weather outbreak is winding down today but storms are still ongoing this morning from MO down to TX. Tornado threat has diminished but still exists. Stay weather aware as damaging winds, hail, and heavy rain are all possible today.
Thankfully, morning convection has done a number on the atmosphere out here in the deep south, leading to a less concerning tornado threat later today. Severe weather is still possible, but this no longer looks like something that will require a live stream from us. Instead,…

It may have started late but tornado outbreak as well underway in Oklahoma. Large destructive tornadoes after dark is about the worst case scenario you can have. Sulphur, OK and other communities have taken a devastating hit. #okwx

The tornado tracks from the April 26th tornado outbreak have been updated on the DAT from the NWS Omaha office have rated several tornadoes at EF3 intensity. The most notable tornadoes Lincoln rated EF3 at 158 mph, Elkhorn EF3 at 165 mph, and the Minden/Harlen EF3 at 160mph.…
UPDATE: after consultation with an engineering expert, we will be upgrading the Marietta tornado to a low-end EF4 tornado. Details coming in a PNS shortly. NO changes as of right now to the Sulphur rating. Still investigating. #okwx
There sure is a lot of arguing going on during and after these tornado events amongst meteorologists and also chasers. I recommend just staying focused on our role and not as much on these arguments. I am focused on the storm chase tomorrow and highlighting recovery efforts.…
@willardsharpwx @EvilBill_wx Yeah! We leap frogged you a few times. Saw you by the river just after that tor lifted and I shouted to Tim "THAT'S WILLARD!!" but we were getting low on fuel and needed to fuel up before it all kicked off again

Here’s more video of the Harlan tornado + my location on radar between 6:15-6:20PM Friday. By the time it was north of town, that’s when I remember it being at its widest (not strongest). Nearly the whole mesocyclone planted. Still can’t wrap my mind around what I saw. #iawx
Quite the active stretch of severe weather. Glad that eastern Iowa was spared, but this was telling of how volatile the atmosphere was for three days. Hoping for a quick recovery for all of the communities impacted, but the reality is it will be a long road ahead.
All the tornado warnings are from Friday at 12am until 12 am this morning.
Possibly unpopular take: I’ve gained a lot of respect for @ryanhallyall partly for his coverage of sever weather events, but especially for his team’s efforts to bring disaster relief to affected areas.

After a brief lull today, another active stretch of severe wx is expected starting tomorrow (Tues 4-30) across the central Plains/Midwest. Severe storms are expected ahead of a cold front tomorrow before a classic dryline supercell day takes shape on Wed. All hazards possible.
Two years ago today, this storm tried to drop a tornado right on top of me. Fortunately it did not and I got a few neat pictures as it rolled by. More severe weather is heading our way this week. Keep those weather radios plugged in.
